Golfers holidaying in Mauritius will now be able to stay and play better thanks to the opening of the Indian Ocean’s first Golfzon Leadbetter Academy at Heritage Golf Club, the World Top 100 luxury golf and beach resort.
Founded by David Leadbetter, one of the greatest names in golf and coach to major champions, including Sir Nick Faldo, Ernie Els and Lydia Ko, the new Golfzon Leadbetter Academy offers everyone – from elite players to absolute beginners – an opportunity to improve or learn the game.
The Academy, based at Le Château Golf Course, one of the Indian Ocean’s best courses and venue of the DP World Tour’s AfrAsia Mauritius Open, will also offer Leadbetter Kids Golf, enabling children and families to experience world-class golf instruction during their stay.
Jonathan Menteath, General Manager of Heritage Golf Club, said: “Our new Golfzon Leadbetter Academy is the first in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, and further strengthens Heritage Golf Club’s position as one of the most sought-after golf destinations in the world.
“For golfers traveling to Mauritius, including elite players, groups and families, we can now offer world class instruction, all year round. With a range of stay-and-play packages, including accommodation in our two five-star beach resorts and luxury villas, we look forward to welcoming all golfers who wish to improve or learn the game.”
A five-lesson package starts from Euro 450 and includes putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play and long game instruction, as well as video, Flightscope and 3D analysis.
David Leadbetter is regarded as one of the world’s premier golf instructors, having coached 26 major champions and seven world number one players.
There are now 40 Golfzon Leadbetter Academies in a global network that spans 15 countries.
David Leadbetter said: “We welcome Heritage Golf Club to the network, our first Golfzon Leadbetter Academy in the Indian Ocean, and are excited to be working with such a prestigious golf destination on the beautiful island of Mauritius.
“Our academies have produced many world class players, including elite juniors that have gone on to have successful professional careers. We have also helped thousands of amateur players enjoy the game of a lifetime – and that’s what we aim to achieve at Heritage Golf Club.”
Crafted along the southern shores of Mauritius, Heritage Golf Club is nestled within the 2,500-hectare Bel Ombre estate, enveloped by a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
The destination features two five-star beach resorts: Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort, recently crowned the Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Hotel at the latest World Golf Awards, and Heritage Awali Golf & Spa, a luxury, all-inclusive resort ideal for families.
Additional accommodation options include a collection of private pool residences nestled within its 2,500 hectares of unspoilt countryside.
Heritage Golf Club’s second golf course, La Réserve Golf Links, with its expansive practice and academy amenities, will open in December 2023, making Heritage Golf Club the only 45-hole golf destination in the Indian Ocean.
