With a wealth of experience on the Ladies European Tour and LPGA, and having captained the European Solheim Cup team in 2015, Heritage Resorts & Golf ambassador Carin Hjalmarsson knows a thing or two about great golf.
On a recent visit to the World Top 25 golf resort, she shared with us her thoughts on the golf courses at Heritage Golf Club, her favourite parts of La Réserve Golf Links and how the resort offers something for everyone.
Pure Golfing Drama
Carin’s first experience playing La Réserve Golf Links left her brimming with excitement. She found the course both fun and challenging, while being beautifully intertwined with the natural environment, typical of links golf.
What sets this Louis Oosthuizen co-designed layout apart is the opportunity to play links golf in the sun, a refreshing contrast to some of my experiences playing in Scotland.
“The breathtaking panoramic ocean views are another highlight that must be experienced firsthand to be fully appreciated. They add a truly unique and dramatic dimension to the golfing experience at the first and only contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean.”
Lush Natural Beauty
Carin found Heritage Golf Club’s second course, Le Château, the perfect complement and an idyllic resort course. It strikes a great balance of difficulty, making it enjoyable for everyone, from beginners to seasoned pros. Always in pristine condition, Carin understands how Le Château Golf Course is consistently voted the Indian Ocean’s best course.
“After a round, you can relax on the clubhouse terrace, savouring delicious Mauritian delights, while soaking in the breathtaking views of Le Château, the 19th century plantation house that overlooks the golf course.”
“The lush natural beauty and tropical elements surrounding Le Château Golf Course further enhance the post-golf relaxation, making it an unforgettable experience for every visitor.”
Luxury Oceanside Accommodation
Beyond the golf courses, Carin discovered the bountiful amenities at Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort, even trying SUP paddle boarding for the first time. Nestled amongst the nature and history of the tranquil Bel Ombre sanctuary, she enjoyed the 5* hotel’s numerous culinary options, that included fine dining, tastes of Asia and the Far East, as well as BBQs on the beach. However Carin’s favourite was the brunch and vibrant atmosphere at the C Beach Club.
Heritage Resorts & Golf provide all types of guests – couples, families and friends – with a perfect retreat to unwind, rejuvenate, and immerse themselves in the natural beauty and history of Mauritius.
