(Heritage Golf Club, Mauritius – 6 September 2024)
Bel Ombre, Mauritius: Heritage Golf Club is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Golf Directors, Darrin Hedley and Didier Gayat, effective September 1, 2024.
With a steadfast commitment to innovation and excellence at the core of Heritage Resorts & Golf, these seasoned professionals bring extensive experience and expertise that will ensure the continued success and growth of the brand’s esteemed golf legacy. Under their leadership, the management of Le Château Golf Course and La Réserve Golf Links will be expertly guided by The Golf Company.
In their new roles, Darrin and Didier will be integral to the senior management team, reporting directly to Ryan Dodds, Head of Golf Management and Projects at The Golf Company, who will provide strategic oversight to ensure operational excellence and future development of both golf courses.
Founded in 2018, The Golf Company, a subsidiary of Rogers Hospitality, is a premier golf management firm based in Mauritius. The company oversees the operations of golf courses across Mauritius, serves as the official event manager for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open (a DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour event), and operates a golf retail and distribution business.
Raoul Maurel, Chief Operations Officer at Heritage Resorts & Golf, commented: “Heritage Golf Club looks forward to the future under the expert guidance of The Golf Company and the experience of the new Golf Directors, Darrin and Didier, who will oversee Le Château Golf Course and La Réserve Golf Links, respectively. Their expertise will undoubtedly help us build upon our growing international reputation as a World Top 100 golf and beach resort, featuring two DP World Tour-hosting courses.”
This new structure has been set up to build upon the strong foundation as Jonathan Menteath prepares to leave his position as General Manager on September 30, 2024. Jonathan, who has been an integral part of Heritage Golf Club for the past nine years, has made significant contributions during his tenure, including leading Le Château Golf Course to be named the best golf course in the Indian Ocean multiple times.
He also played a key role in the successful launch of La Réserve Golf Links in December 2023, the first and only contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean, and the first golf course in Africa to receive GEO Certified® Development Status.
Hailing from South Africa, Darrin brings over 12 years of experience in the golf industry and a strong background in golf management. His previous role as Golf Director at Bryanston Country Club, combined with his recognition as a finalist for the Standard Bank Rising Star in 2015 and the PGA of SA Regional Club Management of the Year award in 2023, makes him an excellent fit for the Heritage Golf Club team.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Didier has extensive experience both as a professional golfer and a manager. He has held senior positions at prestigious golf clubs in France and has been coaching elite teams in Mauritius. Didier’s international background and knack for balancing customer needs with effective management will be invaluable assets.
